Our digs at St. Petersburg pink palace, the Vinoy, was an adequate choice for our trip to discover this Floridian city. The hotel wins on location, situated perfectly for guests to enjoy downtown St. Petersburg, with its marina-esque vibe just outside the front entrance.
There are rooms with balconies and views overlooking all the action, although ours looked straight into an ugly service yard. We will admit that it was pretty spacious though. The decor was functional, American standard, but rooms could do with a bit of a refresh.
We wouldn’t really describe it as a luxury property (perhaps a matter of opinion), but more of a heritage hotel. While the architecture is impressive and oozes old world grandeur, we felt that at time of visit, the service fell short. If you’re looking for a slice of Americana, the Vinoy is a good choice, but if you want to be lavished, consider your options.
