As a nostalgic and playful celebration of its retroglam roots, this quintessetntial beachside resort among many on the Miami Beach scene has just celebrated its third birthday at time of writing. Of late, Miami has seen a spate of new openings and reopenings, so it’s tough to stand out in the city, but The Confidante Miami Beach punches well above its weight with a revamp in renovations in 2017. Distinctly Floridian, with touches of 1950s vibrance and classic glam, the hotel puts a pair of sexy, designer shoes on what is swish, barefoot luxury. Despite the delights of Miami and South Beach awaiting us, we found it almost impossible to leave. We were tempted by a delicious Southern-inspired lunch by celebrated chef Richard Hales in the hotel restaurant, Bird & Bone and a signature rub-down at the unique open-air rooftop spa equipped with air-conditioned treatment, cabanas, dedicated relaxation areas and finesse terrace overlooking the beach. Then there is the people watching, and the crowd by the the property’s two heated pools does not disappoint, with plenty of unapproachable eye-candy and other, more friendly guests to mingle in the poolside cabanas and bungalows and make small talk with – how Miami! The mid-century modern-decorated rooms themselves were nicely appointed, with pops of colour to put you in the mood for your vacation – very much beach-holiday inspired, offering uncompromising comfort. The staff were all super friendly and great to look at too – so all in all, top marks for this new-ish kid on the block.
