An illustrious addition to the Gran Meliá portfolio, Palazzo Cordusio opened at the end of 2023, marking a significant milestone for Meliá Hotels International, reaffirming the Spanish brand’s footprint in Milan, Italy’s style and fashion-driven cosmopolitan city.
Gran Meliá evokes the essence of Spanish culture; it is the most distinguished of the Meliá brands and is based on a life well lived on intuitive personal service, exceptional experiences, and modern expression of Spanish hospitality. So it’s unsurprising that Gran Meliá decided to debut the brand in Milan.
And it did so in great stead, taking residence at one of the city’s most beautiful landmarks. Primely positioned in Piazza Cordusio, an iconic square, Palazzo Cordusio is housed within the historic Palazzo Venezia, a jewel of the Assicurazioni Generali (Italy’s biggest and most renowned insurance company) heritage and for over a century, the company’s Milanese headquarters.
Following the transformation of the building’s internal spaces by ASAH Studio, Palazzo Cordusio Gran Meliá now boasts 84 rooms and suites, working around protected historical elements, whilst elevating the areas with contemporary design touches and modern technology.

This Palazzo Cordusio Gran Meliá is the gateway to cultural Milan, so whether discovering it on your own or through the expertise of the hotel concierge, you can surrender to the magic of classical creativity and explore centuries of art history, including at the Ambrosian art gallery, where you can admire pieces by Leonardo da Vinci and Titian. The hotel offers inside-track experiences too, like a visit to La Mimosa Polo Club to discover the elegance, history and passion for the noble sport of polo… or an exclusive tour of the ‘La Scala and its secrets’ with behind-the-scenes access to the La Scala Opera House that is usually inaccessible to the public. For something entirely different, the property can put together an exhilarating seaplane journey to discover the enchanting beauty of nearby Lake Como. |
The hotel’s luxurious accommodations are characterised by imposing windows and, in some cases, private balconies, which provide abundant natural lighting and unique views of Piazza Cordusio, via Orefici, via dei Mercanti and the Duomo. Our Presidential Suite with a balcony and views of Piazza Cordusio brought Milan’s grandeur and vibrancy from the outside, in. The aesthetic is Italianissimo design, with interior design curated by Adriana Sans, textiles by Rubelli and furniture by Molteni, reflecting Italian cultural and artistic heritage. This spacious suite features a separate living room and a centrepiece ‘open air’ bathtub, offering respite at the end of a day of exploring this fashionista city.
The elevated experience at Palazzo Cordusio Gran Meliá includes four, exceptional homegrown dining concepts by Sunset Hospitality Group: Gioia Pasticceria, Giardino Cordusio, an Italian cocktail bar located in the striking internal courtyard, the rooftop Isola Restaurant, and Japanese outpost SACHI, under the guidance of acclaimed Chef Moon Kyung Soo, the fusion-food innovator known for being culinary director behind the global SUSHISAMBA phenomenon.
Guests in residence can also access an intimate wellness area with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and relaxation lounge; alongside a state-of-the-art gym complete with Technogym equipment and a full-width view of the Palazzo della Ragione and Piazza Mercanti.
