If you’re looking for a gaybourhood, head to Melrose Avenue in Phoenix for its LGBTQ-friendly bars, vintage stores and fab eateries. My favourite spot is Stacy’s @ Melrose. Its Sunday drag show, Stacy’s Follies, is a great way to toast/recover from a big weekend.

Combining two of my favourite activities, the Bevvy Uptown in Phoenix has the best drag bingo in town. Every third Saturday of the month, Mya McKenzie hosts Drag Me to Brunch and slays the crowd. While you’re there, try the Bevvy’s Brunch Punch – shareable, but easily put away yourself.

With its melding of art, food and entertainment, the First Fridays Art Walk is the biggest local attraction in Phoenix. If you get the chance to experience it, I suggest the must-see Grand ArtHaus studio. I’m a big fan of co-owner Robert Gentile and his spray-paint graffiti art.
