They say that “it’s a New York State of Mind” and the Crosby is certainly that. It’s local, yet international in its outlook, and a model of how the very best in transatlantic cultures, art, design and sensibility, can come crashing together in way that shouldn’t really work, but somehow does. After all, founder Kit Kemp has that magic, eclectic touch – a tried, proven and tested model for her.
This is the second time we stayed at Firmdale’s New York property. And we loved this visit even more than our first – back then we found our room a touch on the feminine side. But, in an effort to deliver the flawless service that Firmdale hotels are renowned for, they listened to our feedback and this time presented us with a gorgeous, one bedroom suite that was quite the opposite.
Bold interior design interwoven with dark, luxurious soft furnishings. Add to this a candlelit fireplace and welcome touches including nibbles and champagne – a sight for weary eyes and peckish mouths. When we finally rose and unfurled the lush curtains in the morning, we were greeted with to die for floor-toceiling windows, offering magnificent views of Soho’s rooftops.
