The COMO Uma Ubud, part of the design and wellness-focused COMO hotel group, defines getting away from it all. We recharged our batteries, washed our stresses away and shaped our chakras in a lush, verdant rainforest. Overlooking the beautiful Ayung River, it’s a wonderfully sensual setting. We’re also now alumni members of the COMO Shambhala Retreat – renowned locally and globally for its back-to-nature approach to holistic health.
We’re passionate about hotel breakfasts; we find it says a lot about a resort. The spread at the COMO Uma Ubud was outstanding – delicious Balinese delicacies sat alongside contemporary fare, a great start to the day before we joined the hour-long, complimentary, guided morning walk led by an in-house guide. It was the perfect way to drink in Ubud’s landscape and the Uma’s spellbinding setting.
As the plan was to relax, we made the most of our exclusive Uma Pool Villa. Backed by coconut palms and banyan trees, the sprawling sundeck, with its private swimming pool and spectacular views across the Balinese jungle was ideal for a romantic getaway. The décor was minimalist, giving the place an ambience of harmony, with white cotton voile hanging from the bedroom’s elegant four-poster, king-sized bed. The bathroom’s centrepiece was a freestanding bathtub, complemented by two separate showers.
To further enhance our stay, the Uma organised a three-hour, privately guided and chauffeured tour of Ubud, centred around the key elements of Balinese culture: spirituality, art and trade, but customised to incorporate what we most wanted to explore. It took us through galleries, temples, local artisans and the rice terraces of Ubud.
Our perfect day at Uma was rounded off with a Balinese-inspired dinner, a gastronomic entertainment experience accompanied by a traditional Balinese dance performance.

To really be at one with the calming spirit of Bali, join a yoga class at the COMO Uma Ubud, just one of the holistic, Asian-inspired activities the hotel’s famous Shambhala spa offered. We were also tempted into a full body rub-down, where signature blended massage oils were used to rebalance our bodies and minds. |
