Opulence with a French accent. This is how we would describe the infamous crystal company’s designs and we’d say exactly the same thing of their foray into hoteling. Directly across from the MOMA at a prestigious NYC address, its doormen will usher you upstairs into an extraordinary Alice in Wonderland-like playspace for the rich and famous. The design ethos leans heavily to the company’s 250 year old heritage, but you can tell the dynamic design duo of Gilles and Boissier had a great time delivering this temple to crystal. Every luxurious texture is evident – white marble, cashmere, coyote fur and of course, Baccarat crystal throughout. Relatively, our suite was surprisingly understated – beautifully and cleverly designed, but much calmer than the common areas, signalling a detailed understanding of luxury hoteling.
Our bling-bling expectations were met though, by the in-room technology – a digital touchpad controlled everything and the TV was hidden behind a mirrored wall. We’re thrilled to say that this was one of the best ever in-room experiences for us in NYC.
The fitness area features a stunning pool, that we had all to ourselves – bliss.
