We’ve never stayed at a certified ‘Feng Shui’ hotel before and actually we still aren’t altogether sure what difference that made. however, we do know that our room was very well proportioned and comfortable. The bathroom in particular, with its larger than usual shower and ample room to move about in was a very nice touch. The decor in Avalon is interesting; it feels somewhere between an apartment in the movie A Clockwork Orange with its designer chairs and lamps, and a mid-noughties bachelor pad with its statement ‘art’ proudly on view. Another statement is the glassbottomed rooftop pool which precariously overhangs the building, allowing swimmers to look down at the street some 100 feet below. As it was mid winter when we visited, we can’t vouch for the experience. We did however enjoy very pleasant service and a good selection of quality food for breakfast, which set us up for our days spent sightseeing and shopping at the nearby haga and Magasinsgatan areas. We also enjoyed a meal at the excellent food market literally yards away.
