A stylish and adults-only place to stay in the city, the Hotel Clark, Budapest has upped the city’s chic hospitality game.
Nestled at one end of the iconic chain bridge and giving easy access to the hills of Buda is the Hotel Clark, Budapest a sophisticated and handsome design hotel. Named after the Scottish engineer who designed the bridge, the Hotel Clark Budapest loosely takes on a contemporary, industrial feel in homage.
The rooms are super-modern, different from most on offer on this side of the Danube. The decor in-room is masculine, in a stone grey palette. We absolutely adored ours, a Danube View Top Floor Studio on the seventh storey of the hotel – with a freestanding bathtub and a, well, Danube view. Not to sell it short of course … on the sunny summer days we enjoyed in Budapest, we found it hard to leave our room when all of the city was just laid out so beautifully before us. There are 86 rooms to choose from, but we’d definitely suggest splurging (albeit only a little more than standard accommodation) for this one.
The Hotel Clark Budapest has a not-so-well-kept secret. Which is Leo, a sprawling roof-terrace bar that affords gorgeous views over the city, perfect for goblet-sized gin and tonic to accompany sundown. We were so taken by it, we popped up after lunch and stayed until dinnertime.

| Just behind the hotel, find the steps to scale up the hill. It’s a delightful walk with great views. You will eventually get to the famous Buda Castle District, Budapest’s “old town”. If heights aren’t your thing, then another, more modern landmark, the Széchenyi chain bridge, is right in front of the property. |
