Vegas isn’t short of superstar properties, but when its entertainment giant MGM looked to acquire a 50% stake in boutique hoteliers Sydell, we got the sense that something was stirring. The resulting five-star hotel is called the NoMad Las Vegas.
True to form, the NoMad Las Vegas concept hotel opened up, occupying the top four floors of the stalwart Park MGM, sidestepping the ‘gaming with rooms’ offering to create a more intimate, experiential stay.
French interior designer Jacques Garcia was tasked with the job and the result is a speakeasy meets Harry Potter atmosphere in the hotel’s public spaces – hardwood floors, contemporary stone sculptures and Chesterfield-like leather seating. Plus, despite this being a hotel within a hotel, we could see that even the way the team treats guests is different from its host.
Welcome drinks and snacks in the moody NoMad bar were inventive and the sharing-cocktails concept was destined for our Instagram feeds – theatrical, but delicious.
Up in our loft-style suite at the NoMad Las Vegas, we found eclectic art, colourful soft furnishings and a pedestal bath.
Back outside, there’s a small gaming lounge housed under a grand Tiffany-glass ceiling for those of us who like to indulge in a high-limit flutter. But if you just want to hang out, the delights of the Park MGM’s foodie, entertainment and spa outlets are right there.
