It’s not hard to fall for the Andaz Scottsdale, an arty, stunning (and sprawling) resort situated in 23 acres of desert land, with views of Camelback Mountain, best experienced from a cabana by the pool with a glass of something cold in hand.
Our suite was set in one of the beautiful Modernist bungalows – built in clusters to represent the artists’ colonies they draw inspiration from – and came complete with Mid-century Modern interiors from the iconic 1950s desert-art scene – vibrant, eclectic and even folksy in parts. In fact, the whole Andaz Scottsdale resort is like a film set, where earthy tan-coloured buildings play canvas to the shadows of the desert flora and meandering pathways lead to courtyards with fire pits and, of course, the impressive main building, a gorgeous, glass-clad Mid-century Modern mansion, like something from the Hollywood Hills.
Meals here are served at the Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen, which serves up contemporary Sonoran cuisine tapas-style, with a young, preppy team ready to cater to your every whim.
OutThere escapists will adore the Palo Verde Spa & Apothecary, which has seven treatment rooms and offers wellness packages that will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Experientialists will love the activities on offer both on and off the resort, developed with desert arts in mind and sure to inspire even the most ardent sunbather. For those itching to see some local life, Old Town Scottsdale is a short drive away but, equally, those looking to disappear for a few days will find the Andaz Scottsdale has everything you could ask for and more.

| The hotel is new-world Scottsdale, but you must also check out Old Town while you’re here. It’s the entertainment district, so if you’re looking for frontier town Arizona, you’ve got to look quite hard. In any case, hop on a local eRide and the driver will point out its best spots. |
