It may be a cliché to say that we felt like Maharajas at this luxury hotel, but stepping into the distinctly Rajasthani lobby with its marble inlaid floors, intricately carved staircase, cool fountains and brightly coloured sofas, it’s hard to describe it in any other way. Colour and warmth forms a big part of this hotel, not only in its furnishings but in the beautiful uniforms of the staff and also their attitudes. We were greeted by the smiling women in silk saris and handsome men in brightly hued turbans and fabulous manicured moustaches – all providing a truly incredible level of service. Nothing was ever too much trouble; the team ensured that no stone was left unturned.
Going the extra mile, our butler even accompanied us on our shopping trip to make sure we found exactly what we were looking for and got the best price. He had a knack of knowing what we wanted before we did, making sure that there were delicious cakes in our suite in the afternoon, and fresh fruit every morning. Breakfast each morning served thali-style was just simply superb, with a chef always on hand to explain every dish, ingredient and condiment. All this just highlights how personal the relationships between the hotel and its guests are, despite having 218 rooms, every experience seems absolutely tailored – down to the personalised pillows on our sumptuous bed.
