At a discerning downtown Dallas address, sits the Joule, a Luxury Collection property that’s part of the Starwood family – a true-blue design hotel and a unique alternative to the 80’s-style ‘chain-hotels on steroids’ that dominate Dallas. You can’t miss it, especially if you’re arriving at night, with their colourful, lit facade and Dallas’ glitterati falling out of the hotel’s infamous PM lounge into 4×4’s with blacked-out windows.
Once through the doors, you’ll notice that this hotel is all about art – you’ll see unique installations in its lobby, plus a great collection of contemporary art, not to mention a couple of visiting Warhols. Eclectic design philosophy and artistic detailing graces every aspect of the hotel, from the reception area, to the 10th floor suspended salt-water pool and even down to the doorplate on the guestroom doors.
The rooms are truly fabulous, although there wasn’t much of a view from mine on the 17th floor, but if it’s a view you’re after, then the penthouse is a must. Floor-to-ceiling windows with balconies all the way round the entire top floor, a pool table, even more art and a luxurious bathroom, it’s certainly among the most fabulous penthouses in my book.
